ABC of Reading

ABC of Reading - Ezra Pound The first few pages might suffice: they can force a needed demolition job on much of the garbage we've all been fed and led to follow over the years. How to categorize pound? "The Wasteland ~ A Facsimile" shows what an incredible editor he was; Hugh Kenner's indispensable "Pound Era" makes the case for his translations from Chinese (as Eliot says, Pound "invented Chinese for the West") and troubador lyrics; essayist (from art criticism to economics), composer (a kind of cubist medieval sound, now available from Other Minds), poet (Cantos can get thorny but "Hugh Selwyn Mauberly" can't be beat): I'd say he was kind of a force of nature.
